NICK W(HO?)OOD

I'm a Melbourne-based graphic and motion designer with over eight years across brand, campaign and motion design, working in fashion, retail and finance. I currently lead design and content at CourtSide, where I've taken end-to-end ownership of the brand since launch, building the visual identity, asset systems and campaigns across retail, digital, social and in-store, including the Go Hard Go Global campaign with NBA player Josh Giddey.

Before CourtSide, I spent a year at NAB as a Senior Associate in Content & Channels, leading the bank's first fully in-house campaign and shaping design strategy for moments like the full year results and Strategic Ambition Evolution. Before that I led motion design at Accent Group, working across the groups 20+ brands on everything from sale rollouts at scale to motion-first projects like Hype DC's 25 year campaign with Art Director Lucy Brand.

Motion is my specialty, but I think of myself as a designer first. Over the years I've spent as much time on brand systems, identity work and campaign concepts as I have in After Effects. The thing that's stayed consistent across every role is a focus on craft. I care about the work, I care about the people I make it with, and I care about the small details that take something from fine to memorable.

I'm a confident communicator and presenter, comfortable taking ideas from concept through to delivery and standing behind them in the room. I've mentored designers, led teams and pitched to senior stakeholders, and I'm at my best in environments that value curiosity, collaboration and continuous improvement.

What I'm chasing now is more conceptual ownership and a path toward Art Direction. The kind of work that starts with a strong idea and a strategic foundation, then earns its way through every detail of the execution.

Outside of work I produce music and DJ under the names nickname, Handsome B Wonderful and Industry Dogs. I rewatch the Simpsons golden era more than is reasonable, try to fit some exercise in around it, and I'm always up for a post-work drink with good company.
